The next time you go to the movies, look around. If it's the middle of the day (this is very crucial), and you notice someone braving the movie theatre alone, that would be me. Yup. I'm "that" girl. I like to think it's for the few, the elite and the brave who find the guts to attempt this and I highly encourage any of you to try this delicious treat. There's nothing like going to the movies when everyone else is working the grind, and listening to the sound of the projector purring in your ear. This is starting to sound kind of sensual. Are you turned on to the idea yet ? ; )
So anywho, last week I decided to mentally escape this crap-hole delightfully simple town of College Station, TX and go to California. It's Complicated is a Nancy Meyers film. I LOVED it. I'm starting to think that I'm a middle aged woman in a stylishly youthful body because I equally loved Something's Gotta Give. Nancy Meyers does magic with the set. It's voodoo worked miracles on me. I walked straight out of that theatre and online to see how I could begin my transformation into a chic woman IN THE KITCHEN. This last part is very important seeing as I can barely boil an egg.
Meryl Streep/Goddess is seen here after preparing a lavish dinner for her girlfriends. Notice the stacks and stacks of plates in the background? She means business. As do I.
The counters are a little cluttered for my taste but overall I just can't get enough of it. I have to admit that I'm a bit more anal and prefer the more pristine white kitchen from Something's Gotta Give:
Can you hear the choir of angels in the background? I just melt.
Seeing as I'm a 3rd year graduate student, which basically translates into poor, I have grown accustomed to using my creative little mind to find ways of making what I want a reality. Thus, I ultimately found myself at TJMaxx. Thanks to years of training and sharpening my eye (this is due to my mom who is fabulously chic in the most understated way ever which I LOVE), I'm like a tiger on the prowl looking for great deals that don't sacrifice style or quality. It didn't take me too long to come across the following:
$450 dollars worth of Calvin Klein fine China... for $97. Yes, please!! Naturally I called the one person on my speed dial who I knew would agree with this impulse buy. My future mother-in-law who is not only a wonderful cook, but is also hell bent on teaching me a thing or two about putting food on the table as opposed to just in my mouth.
Ok, so now I have beautiful plates for a steal. My first battle is won.
PS I suppose that now that I'm blogging, I need to be aware that this valuable "literature" is available to people like my fiance. So Sam, yes, I saw this movie before. I know I dragged you to a chick flick under false pretenses but I thought it was "character building". Love you : )
