Quote of the month

"The future is not some place we are going to, but a place we are creating. The paths to it are not found, they are made.”

I dream, therefore I can.

If I could pick only one word to encompass the essence that is me... I would have to say that I'm a dreamer. As a child I swear I lived in a land of make believe a good 80% of the time. The overgrown tree in our yard was my castle and my stuffed animals were my loyal subjects and dear friends. I would spend hours looking at the sky and finding shapes and faces in the leaves that swayed above me. I lived in a beautiful place. It was mine. And I Loved it. My house was full of dreamers. Creativity and passion pumped through ours veins. The sky was the limit.

I remember reading a children's book that became quite dear to me. It was about a princess who wanted the moon. She needed it to be whole, happy, and healthy. It would rid her of all her troubles. There was something truly magical about it. About wanting something that seemed so impossible. She got it in the end.

As an adolescent I still had my heads in the clouds. I wanted to find Love. I was young. I was wild. I was free.
I found him. We are getting married this November after 6 years together. We are perfection : )

As an adult I continued to dream. I decided that I wanted to make a difference in the world. I wanted to touch people's lives. I wanted to make people realize they are beautiful because they are. I am finishing my PhD. I do therapy and I Love it with all my heart.

I have been told over and over again that I cannot. I have been laughed at for my willingness to follow my dreams. I have proved each of them wrong.

The other day I was sitting at work and the sunlight caught the reflection of my engagement ring. The reflection immediately caught my attention as the tiny circles of light scattered across my desk. And then I saw it. The pattern of light... It was clear as a day. A moon. Surrounded by stars...
He got me the moon.

  4. See, you are proof that dreaming amounts to not only something, but great somethings.
